ZeuSaturday Public Event WARNOs

What IS ZeuSaturday?
ZeuSaturday is a new, non-mandatory event housing time slot designed to create an opportunity for all members of the 29th community to engage in a variety of ZEUS Co-Op and PvP missions in ARMA3, curated by members of the 29th community. It is a constructive creative space where members can participate in a variety of well constructed scenarios and enjoy running missions with and for their friends.

ZeuSaturday will start at 4PM EST/9PM GMT on Saturdays in the 29th A3 Battalion Server. It is our intent to hold a ZeuSaturday event at the same time and day each week, though availability of Zeuses and unit interest will determine our final schedule consistency.

While the exact content of each ZeuSaturday will vary from week to week, you will be able to consistently expect an approved mission being conducted by a Zeus from within the unit. Things like mission location, faction, weapon restrictions, and mod requirements may vary from week to week depending on the Zeus in control or the server being used.

Mid Post TL;DR
Who: Anyone - 29th Members or Non Members
What: ARMA3 Zeus Missions by 29th Members
When: Saturdays at 4 EST/9 GMT
Where: 29th A3 Battalion Server
Why: Because Zeus is fun for me and so is playing games with 29thers.

The flagship campaign for ZeuSaturday is Operation Typhon, a Cooperative campaign on Altis run by yours truly and PFC Vogel of CP1. (And also probably other people as the campaign progresses). More details to follow on Operation Typhon as the situation with Russian forces develops.

While this event is NOT restricted to only 29th members! It is our hope that you will invite public players to expand our community presence and participate in these events.

If you are interested in curating a session of ZeuSaturday, please contact me directly so your mission can be vetted prior to making it an official ZeuSaturday mission of the week.

I'm looking forward to seeing a large turnout from all companies to make this event a consistent success. If you've never had the pleasure of taking part in a large scale, coordinated Co-Op or PvP mission, I can assure you it is something mighty to behold and a ton of fun too.

Following the attack on our base of operations on Stratis by Russian forces, the 29th Infantry Division has been tasked with the responsibility to confront Russian Forces on Altis. Two hours ago, Russian command accepted responsibility for the attack on SAB, after they so kindly denied the attack for two days. You all signed up to defend our country, and now these fine upstanding gentlemen have come knocking at our door. SecDef has given the 29th ID total mandate to complete our task, but regrettably has not given us the full support of regional forces. In an attempt to keep the conflict isolated to Altis, naval fire and air support will be greatly limited. This means we will essentially be the sole operators on this little outing, but I think we'll manage just fine. Once we get a foothold on the island, I expect we'll be getting a few extra toys entrusted to our care. We're under orders to keep civilian losses to a minimum, so don't be thinking we're going to raze this island. But if we have it my way, none of these Russians are going to see home again.

    Premise

Operation Typhon is a Cooperative ARMA 3 Campaign taking place on Altis as part of ZeuSaturday. Missions will predominantly be PvAI scenarios, with minor PvP elements incorporated in some missions. Missions will initially be held every other week on Saturday as we determine interest in the campaign and to allow other ZeuSaturday events to take place in the off weeks. Mission frequency will increase if interest warrants it.

In this campaign, 29th ID members will participate in a series of missions to retake Altis from occupying military forces. Missions will start with the invasion of the island and establishing a foothold for conducting operations with minimal resources. Following missions will involve securing areas, developing assets, and destabilizing enemy forces in the region, eventually culminating in taking control of the entire island. Your consistent attendance, while not required, will be greatly appreciated.

Who: Anyone - 29th members and public players
    What: ARMA3 Operation Typhon Campaign
When: Saturdays at 4 EST/9 GMT
    Where: 29th A3 Battalion Server

    Guidelines

    • Each mission of this operation will be outlined in a WARNO (WARNing Order) prior to the mission date.
    • Participants are expected to have read the WARNO prior to the start of the mission.
    • Participants should either post that they are attending in the WARNO or post LOA on the calendar event to mark intent to attend (counter-intuitive but it works).
    • Typical missions may run up to two hours. Please plan for a long sitting.
    • Typical missions will not include teleport reinforcements. Reinforcements, if available, will need to be transported back to the mission.
    • Complete ROE can be found below. Failure to follow the ROE will negatively impact the progression of the campaign and the viability of your team to perform operations in the region.

    Leading

Leadership for these missions will be on a voluntary basis; this means that leadership does not necessarily need to go to someone from Squad or Platoon leadership positions.
After the WARNO is published, the first soldiers who have responded to the WARNO asking to lead will be given the opportunity to do so.

If no volunteer to lead has come forth at the start of the mission a leader will be chosen and "volun-told" to lead. Take this as an opportunity to flex your leadership muscles and to learn through action. PvP builds game skills, but PvAI is excellent for learning leadership skills.

    Date and Weather

    04:30 LOCAL 14 OCT 17
Light cloud cover, possible possible fog. Light wind from S.

    1). Situation:

The US Secretary of Defense has deployed The 116th Regiment of the 29th ID under the command of LTC Kyle J. Wheatley as the primary assaulting task force in AO Altis.

Recent reports and intelligence show enemy forces in the area have been separated from the main body of the island and the Southeast peninsula. Enemies in the region are expect to attempt to reestablish their primary supply lines as their supplies dwindle.

    2). Mission:

Following the successful attack and defense of Chalkeia, our forces are continuing their advance into the most southeaster reaches of Altis. Preparation for an impending attack on Panagia and its surrounding outposts has revealed a number of defensive enemy assets that would cause operational losses to be unacceptably high. Assets include significant increases in air support, following a raid by BluFor elements, as well as a number of artillery sites throughout the immediate area. Elements of the 29th ID will insert along the shores of Mazi Bay immediately prior to the start of the assault on Panagia at 0530 to assault and destroy artillery positions, as well as secure the towns of Feres and Selakano, and capture the airfield or cripple its operations. Failure to eliminate these positions will result in significant losses for the forces assaulting Panagia. 29th ID forces will be working cooperatively with local resistance forces in the region.

    3). General Instructions.

The 29th ID is to secure the towns of Feres and Selekano, as well as capture the airbase situated between, and eliminate enemy long range fire support positions in the area.

    PRIMARY
    1) Destroy long range fire support positions near Feres and Selakano.
    2) Secure airbase near Feres and Selakano or cripple its ability to dispatch air support.

    SECONDARY
    a) Secure any relevant enemy intelligence or assets.
    b) Meet with resistance leadership for additional intelligence.

    A). Organization/Command:

    B). Weapons and Equipment:

Unlimited 5.56/5.45 faction specific rifles with kit standard optics
    - 3X 5.56 MG
    - 1X 7.62 MG
    - 2X 7.62 Rifle with kit standard optics
    - No Sniper/Marksman

    Additional Support
    - 4X RHIB for insert

    • Kit standard optics only
    • No Thermals - None, no gun optics with thermals or binoc thermals.
    • No Silencers
    • No Grenade Launchers.
    • No Guided Launchers.
    • No Mines.
    • No UAV
    • No Tripod/Backpack weapons.
    • Range finders with night vision for Team Leadership ONLY.
    • NVGs are allowed.
    • Satchel or Block Explosives are allowed (8 total).
    • Reasonable and realistic kit, ammo, loadouts, etc.

    D). Intelligence:

    Hostile Forces:
Russian forces have a significant presence on Altis, however satellite imagery has shown a significant decrease of personnel and equipment on the NE of the island, as much of the area is controlled by the 29th ID. Much of the major military weight of Russian forces has been relocated to secure mainland Altis and re-establish supply lines to the Southeast portion of the island.

    Local Resistance:
Intelligence reports local resistance forces have begun mobilizing in response to US intervention on Altis.
Resistance contacts have reported that significant headway has been made in local liberation of Northwestern Altis. Local resistance have pledged support in this operation, though it is unknown how their military elements will react to US personnel out in the field. Reference updated ROE below.

    E). ROE:

Damage to Civilian personnel, equipment and property is to be avoided at all costs.
Unknown number of civilians will be present in operational area. Positive identification is mandatory to avoid civilian casualties. Hostile action is to be cautionary on all armed Russian forces and equipment to prevent collateral damage that may additionally injure civilians.

Local Resistance forces remain relatively unknown on level of cooperation. BLUFOR should refrain from any and all hostile actions on such elements, however authorization is granted for purposes of self-defense and preservation of human life.

Our forces will complete our goal of securing the majority of southeastern Altis. Enemy positions still remain in the area of Feres, though reports indicate Russian forces are preparing to evacuate assets from the region and retreat to Pyrgos and the western half of Altis. Our goal is to assault and secure the town of Feres from enemy control while preventing the exit of as many assets as possible from the region. Given the two weeks since our last major attack, it is expected that Feres will be heavily entrenched and will be difficult to breach.

    WARNO

    Date and Weather

    20:00 LOCAL 24 MAR 18
    Light cloud cover. No wind.

    1). Situation:

The US Secretary of Defense has deployed elements of the 116th Regiment of the 29th ID under the command of LTC Kyle J. Wheatley as a QRF rescue team.

Special Reconnaissance Team Sierra, operating in Finland in the Eastern region of Operational Area VT5, has gone dark after reporting their concealed position may have been compromised by local insurgents. A single last transmission of coordinates was received early this morning. The QRF is tasked with attempting to locate and rescue any remnants of Team Sierra before local insurgents are able to capture or eliminate them.

    2). Mission:

Our forces will be deploying into region VT5 via Blackhawk near the last indicated position of SR Team Sierra. It is likely that our arrival will further compromise the location of SR Team Sierra, so quick execution of the mission will be of the utmost importance. Insurgent forces are expected to zero in on BluFor positions upon our arrival. The last known location of SR Team Sierra is within a densely forested area. As such, insertion in the immediate area of the coordinates will not be possible and significant travel by foot is likely required as part of the operation. Similarly, transport to and the securing of a secondary LZ will be a necessity, as the insertion LZ will likely be the first point of attention for local insurgent forces and will not be a secure extraction point. Insurgent patrols and mobilization are to be expected over the course of the mission. Strength and number of insurgent forces is unknown at this time.

    3). General Instructions.

The 29th ID is tasked with tracking down the missing SR Team Sierra, recovering any surviving members and intelligence assets, and successfully extracting both from the area.

    PRIMARY
    1) Locate and secure remaining members of SR Team Sierra.
    2) Relocate to and secure an LZ for extraction.

    SECONDARY
    a) Secure any relevant intelligence or assets.

    A). Organization/Command:

29th ID is operating independently on this operation. Due to the covert nature of this deployment, external support will be largely unavailable. NATO Command has given the 29th ID mandate to accomplish its task at its own discretion.

    B ). Weapons and Equipment:

Unlimited 5.56/5.45 faction specific rifles with kit standard optics
    - 2X 5.56 MG
    - 1X 7.62 MG
    - 2X 7.62 Rifle with kit standard optics
    - 1X GL with standard GL round limits
    - 3X Single shot AT
    - No Sniper/Marksman
    -1X Blackhawk, unarmed

    • Kit standard optics only
    • No Thermals - None, no gun optics with thermals or binoc thermals.
    • No Silencers
    • No Guided Launchers.
    • No Mines.
    • No UAV
    • No Tripod/Backpack weapons.
    • Range finders with night vision for Team Leadership ONLY.
    • NVGs are allowed.
    • Satchel or Block Explosives are NOT allowed.
    • Reasonable and realistic kit, ammo, loadouts, etc.

    Additional Support:
-Potential additional assets available on request

    D). Intelligence:

    Hostile Forces:
Insurgent forces have an active presence in the VT5 area, though they are largely hidden among the civilian population. The purpose of SR Team Sierra's mission was to gather more comprehensive intelligence regarding insurgent intent, resources, and strength. Unfortunately, Sierra was not able to relay this information before they went dark.

    E). ROE:

Damage to Civilian personnel, equipment and property is to be avoided at all costs.
Unknown number of civilians will be present in operational area. Positive identification is mandatory to avoid civilian casualties. Hostile action is to be cautionary on all armed insurgent forces and equipment to prevent collateral damage that may additionally injure civilians.
