Three Years and Six Months of Service (Jack Winston)

Sharing the title of most tenured ASL in Dog Company, Cpl. Winston continues to excel inside and outside of drills. On the battlefield, Cpl. Winston effectively distributes low-level positioning and tactics instructions to those around him, a skill which consistently contributes to DP2S1’s successes in-game. His ability and performance are without question. Through both his strong battlefield leadership and individual gameplay, he ensures that his section of the map does not collapse. Outside of drills, Cpl. Winston is a remarkable community member. Professional during times of turbulence, humble when seeking feedback, and good-natured above all else, Cpl. Winston forms an essential backbone of the squad’s social dynamics. His flexibility helps the squad avoid stagnation: DP2S1 is not chaotic, nor is it rigid—it is both. Among many other traits, his strong sense of conduct establishes a minimum standard of behavior, while his humility in taking jokes and criticism enables others in the squad to be unafraid of expression. Cpl. Winston has truly found his unique role within the squad as simultaneous leader and peer. I am fortunate to have this individual within the squad, for without his unending enthusiasm and modesty, DP2S1 would not have attained its current levels of cohesion and amicability. Congratulations on yet another milestone, Cpl. Winston!
