Award (Noah C. Mason)

WO1 Minor said:

As EP2S2 held the southeastern section of the town during Saturday’s BBOP match, Pvt. Mason did an exemplary job holding the objective. He was stationed alongside Cpl. Lance and PFC Peterson inside of the compound containing the ammo boxes objective. As FP1 began to push into the defense of EP2, the boxes were constantly under attack from enemy rockets, small arms, and vehicle fire. Despite Pvt. Mason being inexperienced, he was tenacious and maintained an impressive sense of composure under fire. Using his rifle, he suppressed enemy positions and attempted to fend off longer ranged fire.
After the radio tower had been taken by FP1, they began to send infantry down the Southeastern ridge into the compound containing the boxes. Pvt. Mason moved over into a closer position, holing up with Cpl. Lance near the objective itself. A three-man team entered the edges of the town, within 20 meters of the objective itself. Pvt. Mason would not allow this objective to be taken. Working with Cpl. Lance, Pvt. Mason and Cpl. Lance were able to take out a three-man team, keeping the objective safe. Pvt. Mason reported on the condition of the boxes, and maintained a composed defense.
Then, the enemy Bradley was set on fire by a rocket from myself, as it attempted to get to the boxes. This resulted in the enemy crewman dismounting onto the unmanned objective. The first man was taken out by Cpl. Lance, but he was quickly killed, leaving Pvt. Mason to defend a weakened objective, alone, against two enemy combatants entering from multiple entrances. Again, despite the disadvantages present and him being alone, Pvt. Mason managed to neutralize the threat, keeping the objective alive and fulfilling his orders without fail. Without his actions, the objective would have been lost earlier, potentially resulting in both objectives being taken from EP2.
