During PFC Maas’ over 10 months with the unit, he has been able to maintain a 100% attendance rate for his required drills. While this is the example we all strive for, PFC Maas has in addition attended a goodly amount of available 2nd Battalion drills in the last three months. PFC Maas has shown a great dedication to his squad and 2nd Battalion with his willingness to advance in his AIT and lay the hate down on others so they can improve as well. He has stepped into a junior leadership role within the squad, has worked to improve his communication skills-including receiving good marks from leadership in command chat, is involved with planning and debriefing before and after drills, and has become a shining example of what PFCs in the 29th should be. For his efforts I see it appropriate to award him his first Good Conduct Medal.
