I’ve had the pleasure of seeing PFC Meerts learn, grow and develop since he joined DP1 back in early 2019, and shortly after moving into the then new DP1S3 along with myself. It would be fair to say that at the time Meerts, whilst friendly, communicative and skilled, was initially hesitant to take up the reigns of leadership, but after some pep talks and encouragement, he finally got his start in SLT a year into his service time with the 29th. And what a year it has been! Now serving as an SL for almost 6 months of DP1S4, there’s little doubt just how much impact this man has had on his squad and its recent good fortunes, and with having now completed all parts of SLT, I’d like to congratulate him on the award of his NCO Professional Development Ribbon, and promotion to the rank of Corporal!
