The Mountain is burning, Johnny flynn. This song means a lot to me as it reminds me of the days when I was a very young kid; it was that point in the early 2000s when Iraq was just starting and slowly old war Veterans and Christians were being treated like old loonies by the new TV and Internet culture. I feel like this song resonates with the passing of the innocence of the world and as we entered recession in 2008 ,as everyone's parents were struggling, we all lost our pursuit of natures happiness and it all became a mad rush for cash in a time when the outlook was grey. The song's lyric "Cause and effect never met" Resonates especially with me as the cause of 2008 had nothing to do with little 7 year Thomas. However undoubtedly the crash has had a huge impact on my upbringing and life. As austerity has taken it's toll on the arts and we are forced to move our pursuits for simple joys by reminiscing of times which I never even experienced.
If you're going to listen to this song. Please listen to the whole thing and try and remember to a time when the world seemed a lot bigger to your innocent eyes and cast your mind to a place unpolluted with the stress of adult/modern life.
6/10 It's a decent song, but I guess it's the emotions that make it a better experience, personally I can't remember much of my childhood so I guess I saved myself from reminiscing over it.
