Crossposted from previous app Enlistment - Rec. Jensen
25th Infantry Division | Squad | Solitaire/Viva_Miriya | PVT | Recruited personally by unit commander. Had a panic attack in a Tucson, AZ cab over the reintroduction of a mutual to the discord channel. Was unable to manage my emotional state and left the unit with the understanding I would not be allowed to returned. Unit Chaplain was unable to smooth things over.
Individual in question (“the mutual”) has attempted to create strife between myself and 25th ID commander. As a neurodivergent military veteran being treated for suicidal ideation and PTSD, their reintroduction to discord made it feel as if it was a matter of time that “the other shoe would drop” on me. Otherwise, I would have never left.
5th Marine Raider Battalion | Squad | SEL Jensen.F | SEL | I gotta be honest with you, nothing bad. Just a reaction from someone in the unit made me realize they, and perhaps the unit, had a little less room for humor (within the bounds of respect and decorum ofc) than I thought. Had a gut feeling I should leave and try to find a better social fit for me and I did. Otherwise I was due to finish my selection process within a week or two, depending on challenge availability (2 out of 10 left, one being unit wide training).
My old unit cannot tell you I wasn’t dedicated to them and their mission. They wanted me to stay and graduate. I’m the one who left through no fault of their own. It was just the vibes today, just the vibe.
NEW INFO
7th Cavalry Gaming Regiment | Squad | Jensen.F | PVT |
Asked openly in internal “company barracks” discord channel about activity numbers and statistics. Woke up to a SGM attempting to silence me for asking said questions. Respectfully informed the Sergeant Major that I would not be silenced and this was one of my principles. Was presented with a “Development Counseling Statement” that is non punitive but would be on my record, regardless of its expiration in 30 days time.
AUTHOR EDIT: Apparnetly the DCS would have disappeared after 30 days. However I’m a Political Science student and I know “politricks”; I don’t believe my troubles with this SGM would have ended there. This was something that could have been handled with a conversation, a conversation in which I’d have no problem being genuinely humble and apologetic in order to make peace. 7th Cav leadership did not entertain this alternative and preferred to let me discharge.
ORIGINAL MESSAGE CONTINUES
I felt that I was being discriminated against for being an autistic man who was simply asking a question and went to great pains to be assertive while being nonconfrontational, even telling this SGM that I meant them no illwill. I offered to attend a mediation meeting but also made my CoC understand that I would be willing to discharge over this issue.
I want to be clear: I have no problem with chain of command. I addressed everyone by their rank respectfully. I was selected for their newly formed aviation unit straight out of boot camp. I worked through my chain of command and was considered a top trooper by my section leader, the best he’s ever seen in his time as a section leader.
The 29th Infantry division process is longer to get through, rank wise, than 7Cav. And that’s fine. As long as I’m kept busy, as long as I’m not silenced for being an intellectual and critical thinker (as long as I am respectful to all around me, which I am), there will be no issues from me.
Thank you for your consideration.
