Hello, Recruit @WyoGames

We will need to assign you to Basic Combat Training (BCT) as part of your enlistment.
You didn’t mention any preferred time zone for your BCT.

Here are the options that you have:

  • GMT timezone : BCT starts at 2PM EST on 14th of July
  • PST timezone : BCT starts at 9PM EST on 14th of July
  • EST timezone : BCT starts at 7PM EST on 21st of July

Let me know which one suits you best. Also, please make sure you have your email notifications enabled so that you will receive an email when someone answers in this thread.

GMT is my preferred timezone. But the 14th wont work for BCT. Is there another time that I could get into one? I also will be studying abroad in Japan for a year and wont be able to attend events during that time, will that be a problem?

@LosBandito

Hello @WyoGames

In the 29th ID you are required to attend mandatory drills to remain in active service (twice a week).

Let me know if you want to continue with the enlistment process.

If I’m not able to take a leave of absence for education, then I dont think this unit will work for me at this time.

Hey @WyoGames ,
To clarify, the BCT runs from the 14th to the 18th, if you are only unable to make the 14th but can attend the rest of the week that is fine.

What about the rest of the time? I will be studying abroad in another country and wont be able to bring my computer with me.

Hello @WyoGames

As previously mentioned, you need to meet the attendance requirements to remain in active service.

I understand that part, but my main question is, if I can not meet those requirements due to being abroad, will I get kicked out or just placed in a “reserve/LOA” status. Also when I come back and I can once again meet the requirements for “active service” can I just continue or would I have to go through basic and all that again?

Hello @WyoGames

LOA is possible only for a certain amount of time, after that you will have to get discharged from the unit.

There are two types of discharges:

If you receive a HD(Honourable Discharge) you would not have to repeat BCT,

If you receive a GD (General Discharge) you would have to repeat BCT,

Ok, then I would like to proceed with the enlistment. The only BCT that would work for me would be the 14th of July at 21:00 EST which should be 19:00 MST.

While we understand if you have to miss a training session, your attendance is a significant factor in graduating BCT.

If you do not understand time zones well, here is a link to a time zone converter, the link already has a preset EST and GMT time zone depending on what link you’ll click. To find the time difference click, ‘Add another city or time zone’ and type in a city near you that shares your time zone and add it. For example if I picked Los Angeles, which is a city on the west coast of America, I can see something scheduled at 7pm EST happening at 4pm PDT.

This is the EST link , this is the GMT link
