PFC Mertens has been with S3 and the 29th overall for quite a bit now, amassing a impressive 9th AOCC, or 4 years and 6 months of service. A dependable pilot, whether it be in a UH-1D, AH-1 Cobra, or OH-6 Loach, Mertens is one of the most skilled pilots in Dog Company and perhaps even the unit as a whole. He’s also a core member of our squad in S3, helping support us with helicopter fire or even being a great rifleman on the ground.
