PFC Marchbank has already gone above and beyond helping out his squad. A veteran member, he has been indispensible to his leadership before he became an ASL, even before he joined SLT. The PFC has shared the inexhaustible enthusiasm of his predecessors, but as he matured through his career, he managed to carefully hone this energy into a well controlled and respectable sense of commitment.
I often say that leadership in the 29th is a great motivator for personal growth, but rarely have I seen people blossom and improve as PFC Marchbank has. While he was a confident, well liked member right from the start, his greenness lead to a bit of a brash attitude at times. But PFC Marchbank had the impressive ability to scrutinize himself, and showed great insight to identify and better his shortcomings. The PFC’s insight has continued to impress me to this day, and I have little doubt that he can and will continue to leverage his skilled sense of judgement to reach limitless heights.
Until that day arrives though, he will need a well deserved, overdue promotion to a rank befitting his service to his squad. And lucky for PFC Marchbank, his completion of the necessary steps of the SLT process earns him the NCO Professional Development Ribbon, which as we all know comes with a promotion to Corporal! Congratulations, Corporal Marchbank.
