Promotion (Daniel K. Dawdy)

TSgt. Lord said:

I have had the absolute privilege of getting to watch 2Lt. Dawdy rise through the 29th. I remember when he came through BCT, whether he stood out amongst the rest, for just being chill and squared away, never had to worry about him, asked questions when he needed to, and show to me that he was going to go far, but just how far he went not have guessed. Not long after he was put through SLT, where he made friends and really showed us what type of leader he could be. One that is thoughtful, dependable, and caring. Soon being made a squad leader. All this time I had known of the good 2Lt., but I had never gotten the pleasure of really becoming his friend, but that all changed when he was made platoon lead of DP3. For over a year and a half 2Lt. was my better half in DP3, and I never had to worry about a thing. He was the best platoon leader you could ask for. When we disagreed we would sit down and talk it out, when we had to address the platoon it was always as a united front. He never took sides, he never played favorites, he just did what was best for the platoon, and in the end it was my honor to call him my friend. 2Lt. Dawdy is an exemplar platoon leader, and should be seen as such. It is my pleasure to promote you to 1Lt. Dawdy. Congratulations, well earned, and well deserved.
