2Lt. McArdle said:
Corporal Roland was the most outspoken and adamant private way back when we had huge cadres of them running amok. It was then, just after a few months of becoming PFC, taking multiple jobs and awards along the way, that he set out to be the best leader that he could be. In a matter of weeks, Roland joined the bloody fray of leadership, all in the hopes of being the best that the battalion had to offer. In two years, he made a name for himself, working tirelessly day and night for his squad and for his platoon. He has become one of those people you go to no matter what, whether it be advice for daily day-to-day things, or for advice on in-game skills or administration duties. He has truly become an integral member of his platoon and of the greater 2nd Battalion. The impact that he has brought here will carry on for many years. It is for all of these reasons and more that the rank of corporal is no longer fitting. It is my honor to promote him to the rank of Sergeant. This is just the beginning for Sgt. Roland and his career here in the 29th. No matter where he ends up, he will go on to do great things, for he is the eternal Sgt. Roland!
