Promotion (Sebastian A. Garcia)

2Lt. McArdle said:

To draw the Tower Card in a reading means a sudden change, upheaval, and chaos. This was the card that Cpl. S. Garcia was dealt with as he stepped into the role of a squad leader for EP3S2. While it seemed like the entire squad was crumbling all around him just as he became a squad leader, he made the best of the situation. Not succumbing to defeat nor wanting to give up, Cpl. S. Garcia took it as a message to do the very best for both his squad and platoon. After a short but arduous period, his squad was back in shape, becoming the powerhouse that it is today, and helped the platoon achieve success in a scrimmage. Many of us in leadership or those who are too wise to admit that they are wise, understand that it is situations like these that define and make us. While the Tower Card is associated with chaos and sudden change, more importantly, it brings around a revelation and a pivotal moment of awakening. Cpl. S. Garcia has come out on top and has become the resilient, influential, and adaptable leader we know now. He can be seen everywhere, giving his soul and sweat to the development and progress of his squad and his platoon. It is for these reasons that I believe that the rank of Corporal no longer fits him. With all of this said, it is my honor to promote him to the rank of Sergeant. Congratulations Sgt. S. Garcia.
